Ovviamenti questi quadri in bassorilievo sono solo illusioni ottiche che sembrano effimere pur essendo realizzate con una tecnica che invece è nata per durare nei secoli. Ma il gioco è proprio questo: suggerire la precarietà e rendere vive opere fatte di pietra, ceramica, smalti di Murano e tanti altri materiali.

Obviously, these bas-relief paintings  are only optical illusions that seem ephemeral even though they are made with a technique that was born to last through the centuries. But the game is just to suggest the precariousness and make alive artworks made of stone, ceramics, Murano glaze and manu other materials.

Le creature buffe che tentano di stare in equilibrio su queste alte o basse pile di pietre diventano una versione futuristica degli ometti di pietra detti -inukshuk- usati come segnali/punti di riferimento dalle popolazioni Inuit.

The funny creatures that try to stay balanced on these high or low piles of stones become a futuristic version of the little stone men called –inukshuk– used as signal/reference points by the Inuit people.

Dopo tanti robottini di pietra ho pensato di adottare altre soluzioni sostituendo i ciottoli di mare e i frammenti di cotto con montagne di tappi di sughero ritagliati a mano e sagomati per essere accatastati gli uni sugli altri e diventare le insolite “rocce” sulle quali far arrampicare i miei Robotap.

After so many little stone robots I thought of adopting other solutions by replacing the sea pebbles and terracotta fragments with mountains of hand-cut and shaped cork stoppers to be stacked on top of each other and become the unusual “rocks” on which my Robotaps climb.

I tappi da vino di sughero sono perfetti per la creazione di superfici che (grazie ai marchi delle cantine) aggiungono alla varietà dei colori anche dettagli grafici come scritte o simboli.

Ogni robottino/quadro prende così il nome della “t-shirt” di sughero che decido di fargli indossare.

The corks are perfect for the creation of surfaces that (thanks to the brands of the wineries) add to the variety of colors also graphic elements such as lettering or symbols.

Each robot/frame thus takes the name of the cork “t-shirt” that I decide to make them wear.
